AT LEAST HAVE THE AUDACITY TO KILL ME THOROUGHLY BACKGROUND SHORT VERSION The heiress of a borderline-criminal family who operate an information network focusing on the supernatural, and usually the one who works in the "frontlines" so to speak due to her powers. Has been able to see and communicate with ghosts/demons since a young age, and due to this her parents passed her along to her (very not human) grandmother to raise her. Has a strained relationship with her parents due to this, though her elder sister dotes on her often. Suffered an accident where she basically was killed and her body was momentarily possessed, and even though she later took her body back this incident forcibly awakened some of her eldritch heritage. Left her home country and has travelled abroad to investigate the surge in spiritual activity linked to a certain cult, and meets a pair of spirit medium siblings and also assists her surrogate brother and his notboyfriend and his family - including her on-and-off again partner. Her true origins are as her grandmothers experimentations in seeing if having a human family was possible and if her powers would be inherited; all done out of curiosity. Lapis is the result of this, a half human half eldritch hybrid who she could feed her power into and who would gradually lose more of her humanity in the process. PERSONALITY Cold, quiet and withdrawn, very much appears like someone who doesn't care for others. She actually cares a lot, and has extensive difficulty showing it. Aspires to do her best to help others, even strangers, despite there being nothing to gain for her - wanting to try to use her powers for good. Deeply empathetic and compassionate, but can only show this through actions. Isn't the most social due to spending so much time around the dead. Surprisingly bull-headed and stubborn despite her meek appearance, and has little sense of fear - however is easily flustered by any genuine affection. Actually highly mischievous and fond of pranks, again due to ghostly influence. Possesses nigh-infinite patience, and manages to keep her cool in most situations. However, she has little tolerance for fools or people being difficult. Is also deeply lonely and struggles with a sense of belonging. While kind by nature, her powers and upbringing means she has little sense of morality and a very relaxed nature towards death. Also possesses a low tolerance for any perceived betrayals; doesn't believe in "forgive and forget". Is fully capable of great cruelty if pushed, even if she wouldn't exactly enjoy the experience. ABILITIES An incredibly powerful spirit medium with strong ties to the dead and supernatural, and with a rather shaky form of immortality. Is able to channel power into spirits and have them aid her in fights, as well as assist her in general other tasks as well... All her friends are ghosts and demons and varying supernatural entities of questionable status. Is also able to allow herself to be possessed if the situation is dire enough, but that's of course very dangerous. Skilled in using firearms, and is able to summon a scythe for use in battle - she would rather not, though, she's not much of a fighter. Is, in essence, a source of power and a beacon for the supernatural. Is actually the granddaughter - and experiment - of a very, very old cosmic primordial who is slowly inheriting her powers. While she's still more human than eldritch, this will change over time. Her unique heritage gives Lapis other abilities, such as; 🌙 Banishing Entities: So long as a being isn't more powerful than her, Lapis can use her spiritual energy to basically push an entity into the other world. She may sometimes have to weaken a being first to do this, which is where the aid of her own "friends" come into play. 🌙 Sixth Sense: Ability to detect if someone is human or not, or if they have any supernatural abilities (with player permission). Lapis is also able to detect 'hints of death' - an impression left behind someone who died recently, giving her an idea of how they died - along with being able to pick up on dark and malicious magics. 🌙 Spirit/Demon Communication: Lapis is able to see and speak to spirits/the dead, along with demons. She is also able to communicate with things of a more... eldritch nature, though the nature of these beings means it doesn't always work. 🌙 Eldritch Bloodline: As the grandchild of something old and cosmic, it grants her a few extra abilities. She's stronger at night, especially when there's a new or full moon, and any sort of mind reading will end poorly. She's also capable of creating a shield that, in essence, looks as if she plucked out a piece of the night sky to protect her - while it has a small radius, it's sturdier than it looks. Powerful light can cut through it though. It also grants her advanced healing, and in the event she loses a limb she can... regrow it. She is fundamentally immortal, and will heal from all fatal injuries - she can still suffer from things such as blood loss but she'll just get back up. Also she cannot get drunk or be affected by things such as poisons. 🌙 Spiritual Support: Lapis' heritage means she also can greatly support supernatural beings. If a being is classified as a spirit, undead or demonic, Lapis is able to heal them or grant them temporary strength/protection boosts. How much they get depends on how much energy they gives, so there's a risk of exhausting herself too quickly if she does it too much. She also has a soothing aura, which can help soothe these beings and calm down any that are particularly agitated though she has no actual control over this. 🌙 Possession: The ability to let another being into her body, where she can momentarily take on some of their abilities and strengths. This has a strict time limit though, due to the risk of going berserk, and she's usually down for the count afterwards. 🌙 Eldritch Form (Moon Soverign): Lapis has access to an eldritch form, thanks to her family heritage - only this is still a weakened, humanoid state compared to the rest of her kin. She has flight in this form, and is unable to communicate via speech due to only making bird-like sounds. In this form her strength and durability are greatly enhanced, and she has extensive control over gravity and creation of (mini) astral bodies; so she could create a black hole, but very small and not as dense. Also as an eldritch being, she has a sort of terror radius that causes others to panic. Her supportive abilities are also greatly bolstered too, and any beings she boosts while in this form will be granted abilities such as far more enhanced strength and almost instant regeneration. She also has a hammer space that is accessed through the... black hole in her stomach, though it can only be accessed in this form. However, due to the toll this takes on her mentally and physically, Lapis can only use this form for very limited periods. 🌙 Summons: A few of her notable summons are (each one is a dropdown with more info) Sylvia (Ghost) Ref image. The spirit who has been with Lapis since childhood. Quiet and mild-mannered, but viciously protective of her mortal. Is a banshee-aligned spirit, with a scream that is able to permanently deafen anyone who hears. Cassie (Ghost) Ref image. The second of Lapis' ghost summons, the more aggressive of the two. Is able to manipulate physical objects and attack others due to her general malevolence. Louis (Demonic Hell Hound) Ref image. A demon that has worked with Lapis for a number of years; they agreed on 'Louis' for his name to hide his true name. Usually agrees to obey her summons in return for a meal. Vicious and short tempered, but will work with Lapis and her allies. "Old Friend" (Abyssal Presence | Amalgamation of Lost Souls) Ref image. A 'family friend' that works with Lapis for reasons she doesn't know. Has no name, usually called 'It' or 'Them'. Incredibly dangerous, summoning it requires to give up use of a limb until it is dismissed. Will attack and absorb others, living or dead, with no hesitation. She also: 🌙 Is highly skilled in the use of daggers and firearms - all of which have been blessed to harm spirits and such. Also highly agile and fast, preferring fight styles that focus on kicks and speed. Her firearm of choice tends to be a TT-30. 🌙 Holds some advanced knowledge of human anatomy, as a result of the information she learned from ghosts. 🌙 Has an extensive knowledge on the supernatural and the occult, and knows many kinds of rituals - though she would only be able to conduct these with the necessary materials. EXTRA 🌙 Her Grandmother is actually a primordial of cosmic origins, known amongst her kind as Transcendent, with her powers primarily centred on the moon; the moon is her "eye" with all the unfortunate implications behind it. Lapis is currently unaware of this - though she has her suspicions that something is up - but this explains why her powers far outclass other mediums. 🌙 Due to needing to learn for rituals, Lapis is very skilled in singing and dancing. It’s also one of her few hobbies outside of her work. 🌙 Has a tattoo along her spine because she was simply curious about the process. She's currently considering getting another one. 🌙 She has a keen interest in fashion and cosmetics, and would’ve opened a salon if it wasn’t for her powers. Is also a bit vain about her appearance too. 🌙 Knows how to drive a motorcycle; her motorcycle jacket has been enchanted to block attacks from spirits. 🌙 While most of her domestic skills are a bit lacking, she’s a very skilled baker. 🌙 Has a massive sweet tooth and loves coffee and tea. Isn’t much of a fan of carbonated drinks.
